ABOUT LAYLA ISIS

Layla Isis is a renowned performer, choreographer, and instructor of Middle Eastern dance — and one of the most sought-after belly dancers in the New York City area. Known for a performance style that is at once technically masterful and genuinely alive, she has built a career spanning stages, screens, and intimate celebrations across New York and around the world.
Her artistry is rooted in East Coast American Cabaret tradition and enriched by formal training in acting, musicianship, and years of immersive study in World dance traditions. The result is a performer of rare range – equally at home in a grand theatrical production and on the dance floor of a wedding reception, where she has a particular gift for bringing guests in rather than simply performing at them.
Layla’s film and television credits include Sex and the City 2, The Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Dr. Oz Show, and Martin Scorsese’s HBO series Vinyl. She toured with the internationally acclaimed Bellydance Superstars and is featured in the lavishly produced performance DVD Temptation of Bellydance. On the New York stage, she has performed Off-Broadway and at venues including Lincoln Center, Town Hall, Irving Plaza, and The United Nations. Notable clients and collaborators include Rachel Ray, Akon, Ashanti, Marc Jacobs, Philip Glass, Yerba Buena , Gyptian, and Gogol Bordello.
As a company artist, she has been a principal member of The Dalia Carella Dance Collective and the classical Arabic ensemble Zikrayat, and co-founded both Entelechy Dance and Infinity Bellydance — performing regularly for prestigious dance festivals, cultural events, and theatrical productions throughout the region.
Today, Layla performs full time for private events — weddings, corporate events, and celebrations of all kinds — bringing the same level of artistry and intention to every performance regardless of scale. She also offers private lessons, performance coaching, workshops, and mentorship programs for dancers at all levels who are serious about their craft.
